Cognition recently welcomed a 16-year-old work experience student for a week and half long stint across our departments. Having just completed his GCSE’s, he wanted to gain some experience in the working world and explore some of the avenues available to him in the fascinating world of construction and engineering. The team put a lot of effort into creating engaging tasks for him to give him a good sense of the day-to-day activities of our different departments.
We asked him to share with us how he found his experience working at Cognition. Here is some of what he had to say:
“I loved it at Cognition Land and Water. It was a good experience for me as it taught me many things that would be useful in the future. In the last week and a half, I have been working in all different departments. For example, one day I was doing marketing then learning about the health and safety and soon went onto the actual site where I got to see what cognition do. It was fun to help them and learn new things I never thought I needed to know…It was fun to do because it felt like it was my actual job and felt important…This kind of helped me to create a path for my future.”
It is our pleasure to be able to help young people learn and progress as they navigate entering and manoeuvring through the working world. We hope that we have provided a lasting experience for him that stays with him through the rest of his educational journey and future career.
