Cognition was contracted to carry out remediation works at Kingston Gasworks, prior to the construction of luxury residential apartments and a large basement car park. The soils and groundwater were considerably contaminated and an invasive species of plant was also present on site. Cognition was approached at an early stage of development and reviewed the strategy to ensure the remediation programme was cost effective and sustainable.

Cognition undertook remediation works at the site of a former petrol station and car show room in Cuffley, Hertfordshire that was contaminated with PAHs, TPHs, and lead.

Cognition was awarded a contract to remediate the basement area of a site in Guildford, prior to its redevelopment for residential and commercial use. Excavated material was processed, segregated and reused on site where possible.

Cognition was contracted to remediate a former industrial site in Hogarth, Chiswick. The site was to be redeveloped for residential housing with a large basement. The remediation works involved soil excavation, segregation, pre-treatment and testing prior to disposal. A total of 55,000 m3 was excavated and disposed of within 16 weeks in a very busy area of London. With large numbers of vehicles (up to 120) entering and leaving the site each day, efficient traffic management controls were in place. The remediation works and disposal operations were competently managed to allow other trades to continue working unhindered.

Wimbledon Hill Park is a luxury residential development, comprising apartments and townhouses, set alongside 19 acres of protected parkland. Cognition was contracted to carry out earthworks at the site, which involved the creation of permanent levels and piling platforms.

Cognition was contracted to carry out remediation and earth works at the Key Site in Godalming, Surrey. The site in central Godalming was occupied by the police station as well as a number of smaller industrial units.

Cognition was contracted by Magnox Ltd to carry out cement stabilisation of soil material to support the Solid Intermediate Level Waste Encapsulation (SILWE) plant which will be constructed at Hunterston A Power Station.
