16 November 2020

First-rate site management and diligent adherence to our rigorous safety procedures has resulted in Cognition Land & Water being rated ‘excellent’ in a recent audit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme of our Former Homebase Site in Wandsworth.

First-rate site management and diligent adherence to our rigorous safety procedures has resulted in Cognition Land & Water being rated ‘excellent’ in a recent audit by the Considerate Constructors Scheme of our Former Homebase Site in Wandsworth.

Following the successful completion of an associated project on an adjacent former gasworks, Cognition is carrying out demolition, remediation, earthworks, groundworks, stabilised pile mat construction and other associated enabling works at this site for our client Legal and General.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the audit was carried out remotely and facilitated by a comprehensive photographic record and prior completion of a questionnaire and checklist.  The feedback report from the auditors was very positive and demonstrates a very high level of compliance with the Scheme’s key objectives:

  • Care about appearance;
  • Respect for the community;
  • Protect the environment;
  • Secure everyone’s safety; and
  • Value the workforce.

A selection of the auditors comments are outlined below:

  • Compliance is very high and reflects the Company’s impressive practices and procedures
  • Company branding is strong externally and internally
  • There is a robust communication strategy in place that is clearly working well
  • Environmental practices and procedures are exceptional
  • The contractor has robust health, safety and wellbeing policies in place
  • The Company clearly acknowledges the importance of their workforce and their wellbeing
  • Appropriate practices and procedures to deal with the corona virus appear to be in place
  • There is a strong focus on equality and mental health related issues

David Skinner, Cognition’s Contract Manager for the project said, “I am very proud of what our team has achieved here.  The high score and ‘excellent’ rating’ from the Considerate Constructors Scheme is reflective of the impressive effort and dedication of the whole team working on this project.  We are truly living the Cognition’s primary aim - Safety at our Core!”
