Product and groundwater collection sumps were installed inside and outside the building through the full depth of the aquifer. A water treatment and product recovery system was mobilised and installed to site and operated for six months. Monitoring of product removal and treatment efficiency took place throughout the operation.

The product recovery system consisted of a series of collection trenches and sumps connected by perforated pipes and high permeability fill materials.

The treatment system successfully reduced the diesel in the aquifer to the remedial targets within the proposed treatment period. Regulatory and client sign off was achieved in line with a two month monitoring and validation period.
