Sophie has continued to make progress this year and built on her position as the leading British lightweight rower at trials. Although it’s been a medal winning season with gold medals in Munich and Lucerne, winter training continues at a pace.

24.08.09 Works Complete for Cognition on Nene WaterfrontThe Nene Waterfront Regeneration project will regenerate a prominent waterside area of Wisbech including the large riverside brownfield site which has been underused and partly derelict for up to twenty years. 
30.07.09 Corby Steel PlantThe High Court ruled yesterday that Corby Council was liable for birth defects in local children whose mothers were exposed to toxic pollutants in the air. The decision is the first to establish a link between atmospheric toxic waste and birth defects. 
21.07.09 Sophie & Hester make World Cup History in MunichHester Goodsell and Sophie Hosking won Britain's first World Cup final in the women's lightweight double in Munich. 
19.05.09 Former Cement Works, EssexThe site has been developed since 1897 as part of the Grays Portland Cement Works. By 1920 further development had taken place including railway and tram lines crossing the site. The cement works remained in operation until 1976. After 1976 the site was used as a distribution depot until 1988. In 1978 and 1979 demolition of many of the existing structures associated with the cement works took place. 
12.05.09 Staines, MiddlesexThis site had been used as a garage with associated services from circa 1935. It had ceased to offer such services in recent years and had become dilapidated. Planning permission was obtained to convert use to residential offering affordable housing in the local community.

The business was founded in 1938 and has occupied current premises since early 1970. The petrol forecourt had been redundant for many years and the decision was taken to remove the fuel tanks and any resulting contamination. 
24.02.09 Diesel Leak at Manufacturer DealershipDiesel fuel had leaked from a fuel tank and underground boiler feed line to contaminate a minor aquifer at approximately 5m depth.
